StepStone provides a professionally designed Independent Living Apartment Program for foster care youth from ages 18 to 21 in the state of Virginia. Our program provides support and guidance for young people transitioning to adulthood, helping them build the skills and confidence needed to live on their own.
- Safe and Supported – 24/7 on-call assistance and qualified staff.
- Personalized Growth – Individual service plans guided by the Casey Life Skills Assessment, with coordination of education, employment, medical, and mental-health needs.
- Real-World Skills – Hands-on training in budgeting, cooking, job applications, social skills, and more, plus community courses for long-term success.
- Eligibility – Virginia youth ages 18 – 21 in the Fostering Futures program who demonstrate maturity, help set personal goals, and meet education or work requirements.
We strive to assist participants with developing necessary life skills, pursuing educational opportunities, and gaining access to employment assistance. Comprehensive case management service is provided to further assist our tenants with securing any additional supports that may be required for a successful transition to independent living. The program is tailored to meet the specific needs of each participant to provide the education and tools necessary to thrive on his or her own.
